Today we will have breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a full-day trip. You will be driven to view the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx in the morning: the most well-known structures not only in ancient Egypt but also in all of antiquity! These enormous stone buildings were erected on a rocky plateau in the desert not far from the Nile some 4,500 years ago. After lunch, you will be transported to the Egyptian Museum, where you may explore the countless chambers and galleries filled with thousands of artifacts while admiring King Tutankhamen's marvels, such as his golden death mask. Before being brought back to your hotel for dinner, you'll get the chance to check out Cairo's ancient market.
Your day begins with breakfast in your hotel, followed by a trip to Alexandria in our air-conditioned car. You should take a tour of the catacombs (Kom el Shoqafa), where early Christians were interred, the Roman Amphitheatre, which was present in every town in the Roman Empire, the New Alexandria Library (Bibliotheca Alexandrina), which opened on October 16, 2002 and has eight million bookshelves and an eleven-story main reading room, as well as the Citadel of Qaitbay, which was the site of a battle in the year 1480 AD.
Following breakfast, you will be escorted to the Citadel of Saladin, a fortress that Muhammad Ali Pasha rebuilt to protect Cairo from the Crusaders and whose mosque is a "must-see," which was constructed between 1176 and 1183 AD. From here, you will be taken on a tour of some of Cairo's most well-known churches, including The Hanging Church and the Church of St. George the Martyr, which were built into the Fort of Babylon's walls and may be Cairo's oldest structures; and the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergius), where it is believed that the Holy Family sought refuge in a cave, and where a church was built to honor this event. Pilgrims travel to this region from all around the world. Lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant. You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of this thrilling day.
