Early morning flight from Antananarivo to Diego. An Italian-speaking guide and private 4WD await. Check in, then visit the famous Three Bays. Lunch at Ramena Beach. Overnight at Royal Sakalava Hotel.
Early departure for a boat trip to Suarez Island—authentic and less touristy. Enjoy beach time and a picnic while the boatman fishes. Depart by 2 PM (weather permitting). Keep electronics dry with a plastic bag.
Depart early from Diego to Joffreville. Stop to see the endemic baobab (Adansonia suarezensis). Then visit Amber Mountain National Park (2–3 hours).
After breakfast, you will head along National Road RN6 toward Anjahakely. Your itinerary includes a visit to the Tsingy Rouge (Red Tsingy). Even though it is near Diego Suarez, it is like stepping into another world—one of those "Is this still Earth?" kind of places. Unlike the gray limestone of Tsingy de Bemaraha or Ankarana, the Tsingy Rouge are red sandstone and laterite formations, shaped by erosion into spires, needles, and delicate towers. They are uniquely colorful, with hues ranging from rust-red to soft pink, especially striking in the sunlight. After the visit, you will head to Anjahakely, where you will spend the night at Ankiba Lodge Anjahakely. Activities include a visit to Tsingy Rouge National Park and a night walk in Anjahakely. Driving distance: 107 km. Walking distance: 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Akiba Lodge, Anjahakely—immersive northern wilderness. Adjacent to Analamerana Reserve, home to the critically endangered Perrier's sifaka (only 250 left). Also spot crowned lemurs, Sanford's brown lemurs, and more. Half-day reserve walk; optional night walk.
Drive 1.5 hours to Ankarana National Park—a limestone wonder shaped millions of years ago. 2-hour guided walk. Walking boots and repellent recommended. Lunch en route, then drive to Ambilobe. 74 km.
After breakfast, you will head to Ankify. Once reaching Ankify, a private speedboat to transfer to Nosy Be is waiting for you. Activities include a cacao plantation visit and the boat transfer.
