6-Days Morocco tour safari from Casablanca

Upon arrival in Casablanca, you’ll be welcomed by your tour guide or driver. Casablanca is a bustling metropolis known for its modern architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Before heading out on your journey, you may have an opportunity to visit the iconic Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, perched dramatically on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. 

From Casablanca, you will travel to Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. Rabat is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with historical landmarks and picturesque gardens. Here, you’ll visit the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Take time to explore the Oudayas Kasbah, a charming fortress overlooking the Bou Regreg River. 

Next, your journey continues to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Meknes is known for its grand architecture and historical significance. Highlights include Bab Mansour, an ornate gateway that stands as a testament to Moroccan craftsmanship, and the Royal Stables. 

Your final stop for the day is Fes, where you’ll check into your accommodation. Known as Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital, Fes is home to one of the world’s oldest universities and a labyrinthine medina that will transport you back in time. Rest up for an exciting day ahead exploring this fascinating city.  

Today is dedicated to discovering the wonders of Fes, one of Morocco’s most captivating cities. The day begins with a guided tour of Fes el-Bali, the old medina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you navigate through its narrow streets and bustling souks, you’ll encounter artisans crafting traditional goods, colorful stalls brimming with spices and textiles, and historic landmarks that tell the story of this ancient city. 

Key highlights include Al-Qarawiyyin University and Mosque, which dates back to 859 AD and is considered one of the oldest universities in the world. You’ll also visit Bou Inania Madrasa, a stunning example of Moroccan architecture adorned with intricate tilework and carvings. 

Next, explore the Chouara Tannery, where leather goods are dyed using traditional methods that have remained unchanged for centuries. From a rooftop vantage point, you can witness this vibrant process while taking in views of the medina. Other notable sites include the Mellah (Jewish Quarter), the Royal Palace gates, and Jnan Sbil Gardens. After a full day of exploration, return to your riad or hotel to relax and savor some traditional Moroccan cuisine.  

On day three, leave Fes behind as you journey through Morocco’s scenic landscapes en route to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi Desert. Your first stop is Ifrane, often referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and cool climate. Take a stroll through this charming town before continuing to the Cedar Forest near Azrou. Here, you may encounter Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. 

As you drive further south, you’ll pass through Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and dramatic gorges. This fertile valley is a stunning contrast to the arid landscapes that surround it. Stop for photos and enjoy the breathtaking views before arriving in Erfoud, famous for its fossils and date production. 

Finally, reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. In the evening, embark on a camel trek into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi to witness a magical sunset over the desert. Spend the night in a traditional Berber camp under a star-studded sky, enjoying local music and cuisine around a campfire. This is undoubtedly one of the highlights of your Morocco desert tour.  

Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga by camel or 4x4 vehicle. After breakfast, continue your journey through Morocco’s stunning landscapes. Your first stop is Jorf, where you can learn about ancient irrigation systems known as “khettaras.” 

Next, visit Todra Gorges, a series of towering limestone cliffs that create a dramatic canyon landscape. Take a walk along the riverbed and marvel at these natural wonders before heading to Dades Valley. Known as “The Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs,” this region is dotted with traditional mud-brick fortresses set against rugged mountain scenery. 

Continue through Roses Valley, famous for its rose cultivation and annual Rose Festival, before arriving in Skoura. This picturesque oasis is home to palm groves and historic kasbahs such as Kasbah Amridil. Your final destination for the day is Ouarzazate, often called “The Hollywood of Africa” due to its role as a filming location for numerous movies and TV shows. Today visit one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks: Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a well-preserved example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture and has been featured in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore its narrow alleyways and admire panoramic views from its hilltop vantage point. 

From here, begin your journey across the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n’Tichka Pass. This scenic drive offers breathtaking views of rugged peaks and charming Berber villages nestled in valleys below. Stop along the way to capture photos of this awe-inspiring landscape before descending into Marrakech. 

Upon arrival in Marrakech, check into your accommodation and take some time to unwind. Known as “The Red City,” Marrakech is famous for its vibrant souks, historic palaces, and lively atmosphere. Prepare for an exciting day of exploration tomorrow!  

Your final day in Morocco is dedicated to exploring Marrakech’s top attractions. Begin at Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, the heart of the city where snake charmers, street performers, and food vendors create an unforgettable spectacle. From here, venture into the medina’s bustling souks to shop for spices, textiles, jewelry, and other treasures. 

Visit historical sites such as Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and Koutoubia Mosque—the largest mosque in Marrakech with an iconic minaret visible from miles away. Don’t miss Majorelle Garden, a serene oasis designed by French painter Jacques Majorelle and later owned by Yves Saint Laurent. 

After soaking up all that Marrakech has to offer, it’s time to bid farewell to Morocco as your tour concludes with departure from Marrakech Menara Airport or transfer back to Casablanca if needed.
