The journey takes roughly 6-7 hours, crossing the border at Katuna/Gatuna, with breathtaking views of terraced hills and rural landscapes. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you'll engage with the Batwa pygmy community, experiencing their traditional lifestyle and trekking gorillas' ancestral connection to the forest. The afternoon introduces you to the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous Batwa people, offering insights into their traditional hunting and gathering practices.
The pinnacle of trekking gorillas unfolds in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Early morning preparations begin with a briefing at the Bwindi Park headquarters, where experienced rangers will guide you through the intricate process of trekking mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. The challenging yet rewarding trek takes you deep into the forest, tracking mountain gorillas through dense vegetation and challenging terrain. The final day of your journey involves a scenic return drive to Kigali, covering approximately 320 kilometers.
