Itinary in details

  • Day1
    After breakfast at your Hotel in Nairobi, you will depart for Mountain Kenya where you will arrive in time for lunch. The mountain is surrounded by forests which has different trails where one can pass so as to see different bird species in the forest. You will go for birding in the afternoon in the forest. Look out for birds like Olive & Bronze napped pigeons, Silvery Cheeked hornbills, Ruppels Robin Chat, White-starred Forest Robin, Mountain Greenbul, Stuhlmans sterling and may be Vereaux Eagle. Return for dinner and overnight at your Lodge.

  • Day2
    After breakfast, you will drive to slopes of Mt Kenya through numerous vegetation zones and onto 10,000 ft Afro- alpine moorland. En rout look out for other bird species. In the afternoon after lunch, set out for the birding along the river line forests. Here you will be able to see birds like Black duck, Hartulabs Turaco, Crowned hornbill, Paradise flycatchers and sunbirds. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day3
    After you’re served breakfast at the Lodge, you will depart for the full day birding in the Great Rift Valley and in the Sosyambu wildlife sanctuary. If you want, you will go for the night game drives and birding. Search for birds like flamingos and Pelicans. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

  • Day4
    After breakfast, set out with your packed lunch for a full day birding in the sanctuary. search for bird species like Narina Trogon, Arrow-marked Babbler and Red headed weaver ,Hildebrand’s Francolin, Montane and Dusky Night jars. After lunch you will take a short excursion to Lake Nakuru. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/Lake.

  • Day5
    After breakfast, you will drive north wards to Lake Bogoria and to Lake Baringo. En route you will be watching different bird species. In the afternoon you will take an excursion to see the Hippos and other animals. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/lodge.

  • Day6
    Have breakfast in the morning and then after take a boat cruise to watch out for water bird species such as Dark Chanting Goshawk, Silverbird, Cliffchats, Jackson’s and Yellow-billed hornbills, brown- tailed Rock Chat, Bristle-crowned Startling, Verreaux Eagle and Spotted Eagle Owl. Return for dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/Campsite.

  • Day7
    After a fully served breakfast, you will take with you a packed lunch and depart for a full day birding in the Kakamega Forest passing via Tugen hills ,through the Kerio valley and Serikwa plateau and finally to Kakamega forest. Dinner and overnight at a campsite near the forest.

  • Day8
    You will have breakfast and then spend a whole day birding in the forest searching for birds like Great Blue Turacco , Emerald Cuckoo ,Blue Headed Bee Eater, Black and White Casked Hornbill, Black-billed and Viellot’s Black Weavers. Dinner and overnight at a campsite

  • Day9
    You will then head to Lake Victoria shores for more birding. After breakfast drive to the shores of Lake Victoria for another full day birding. Take a boat ride to the nearby island to search for more water loving bird species. Dinner and overnight at a campsite near the lake.

  • Day10
    After a fully served breakfast, head out for Masai Mara game reserve which is the finest reserve in East Africa with all the Big Five animals like the Black Rhino ,Elephant ,Lion, Cheetah, Leopard ,Zebra, Wild beast, Heartbeast, Topi, Eland, Thompson and Grant Gazelles and many more. Birds include the Open -billed Storks, Temminck’s Courser, Yellow-throated Sangrouse, Usambiro Barbet and Denham’s Bustard. Dinner and overnight at a campsite.

  • Day11
    Have Breakfast in the morning at the Lodge, depart with your packed lunch for a full day game drives searching for big cats animals such as Elephants, lions, leopards, Buffaloes and so on. Later on venture towards the Mara River to look for hippo pools, giant crocodiles and the world famous crossing point for the wildebeests. Return back to the lodge for a rest in the evening before having your dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day12
    Wake up early for the morning game drive to search for the other animals you missed out in the previous game drives, later return back to the Lodge for breakfast after which, you will transfer back to Nairobi arriving in the early afternoon. Drop off will either be either at the Hotel in Nairobi or at the Airport depending on your flight departure time.
